Holly wears no5 - October 22nd 2019

Months after my last outfit post I am back.  I have spent a lot of time thinking about my style and the fact that I am now ... THIRTY.

I am still trying to focus on a simpler style and would like to be a little more sophisticated at times.  Last weekend we went to brunch at the Rosewood Abu Dhabi as we had relatives over.  I really liked my outfit and wanted to share it with you.

I wore some beautiful cream wide leg trousers, I think you could possibly describe them as culottes but I think they may be a little long for that.  I can't find the exact ones on the Zara website but here is a link to some similar ones Zara trousers

On top I wore a body also from Zara I bought it in a small and it fit beautifully ( I am a size 8-10 on top). I felt smart but comfy all at the same time and really enjoyed wearing this outfit.
I styled it very simply with some curls in my hair, my & other stories sunglasses and my trusty necklace from the lovely Mermaids & Dinosaurs which is a fabulous little brand I found on Instagram!

Hope you liked my outfit :)

A simpler style

Almost a year since I wrote my last outfit post but I fell out of love with my wardrobe and my style for a little while.  I am in the process of changing things up a little and this week I even had my freshened up this week.  I really like the simple look at the moment - since hitting 30 I have really wanted to tone down chasing the 'in the moment' style all the time. I don't want to waste all my cash on stuff that ends up living in the back of my wardrobe 6 months down the line.  My plan instead is to invest in more versatile pieces that can be brought up to date with the odd accessory... that's the plan anyway.

Today's post is about embracing that simple 'mum look' on the weekends.  Hope you like my outfits!

The first outfit adds a pop of colour with the red tee.  I really like the little American flag on the chest of this tee and I love the style of the jeans.  They are a cropped wide leg from Bershka.  I Love these as an alternative to a skinny leg jean.  I couldn't find a link to these exact ones as I've had them for nearly a year now but I have linked a similar style here -  Bershka wide leg jeans

The second outfit seems to me my go to outfit if we are off out for brunch or a family lunch at the weekends.  I really like these Topshop large polka dot trousers.  They are high-waisted so seem to flatter my mum tum and can be easily dressed up or down.  I couldn't find these on line but I only bought them about a month ago so definitely check in store.

The final simple weekend outfit is my current fave.  I am loving wearing a simple plain tee at the moment.  This one was a super cheap one from H&M which incidentally is literally my favorite place to shop at the moment.  The jeans are American Eagle and are so comfy.  I know other style jeans are in right now but I still love a simple high-waisted skinny pair too!

Hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you shop any of the styles... I can hear my two littles arguing now so that's my cue to go!

This week's outfit was inspired by the Easter weekend and payday!

I haven't bought any clothes since Christmas so my husband encouraged me to go out and buy an outfit so that I could feel confident and happy on our afternoon out to the St Regis for afternoon tea (which was just beautiful by the way).  I wanted to feel a little more dressy than usual but was looking for something that could easily be a simple and casual outfit too.

Here is what I wore...

I have H&M to thank for this outfit.  The dress, belt, necklaces and bag are all current stock in H&M ... at least they are in Abu Dhabi.  You might have to check in store or online if you are reading in the UK.  The shoes are old faithfuls from Aldo, literally years ago.  I was actually hoping to wear different shoes with this outfit but new shoes will come in after another payday.  :)

And below is one of my many awkward outtakes from taking the outfit photo!

I included this outfit over on my instagram feed for the #whatmamaworemonday hashtag.  I always look forward to perusing the outfit posts on a Monday so it is always good when I have the confidence to join in.

Hope you enjoyed reading this outfit post, I am sure this outfit will pretty much be on repeat because I bloody love it. 😊

Thank you for reading, let me know if you go out and buy any of the items included in this outfit.

This week's outfit is another weekend one.  I am hoping to do a couple weekday/ work outfits in the coming weeks too.  This outfit is from Friday, we had a fairly chilled morning and then I took the littles to the mall and the cinema with my friend whilst Sam caught up with his friends at a bbq.

Here is what I wore...

The shoes are this season from http://www.newlook.com/row/womens I really love them and am trying to become more confident with wearing high heels in the daytime.  The jeans are from Primark and are such good quality seeing as I picked them up for about £8 before I moved out the UAE. The Tee is from https://www.bershka.com/ae/ as is the denim jacket (but I stole this from Sam so if you want it be sure to check the mens section).

I am so awkward when I do these photos, I much prefer being the one taking the photos.  Having said that, I am really enjoying doing these posts and I do think it is important to push my boundaries sometimes.  After all, I am nearly 30!

I would love to hear from you if you are enjoying these posts or if you would like to see any work wear or date night outfits.

Thanks for reading,

After some deliberation and some fairly obvious questions, am I stylish enough?  Do I go shopping enough? ... I decided to start writing a new page on my blog about what I wear.  These posts won't have a specific schedule (let's be honest none of my posts do) but, I just really fancied getting into writing about style and mum fashion.  I hate the idea that once you become a mama how you dress is deemed, 'mumsy.'  While I would never claimed to be on the cutting edge of fashion, I would like to think I have retained some of my pre-baby fashion sense!

So here goes...

Today's outfit was all about comfort and feeling nice for a simple day out with my husband and the littles.  As it is winter at the minute the weather is pretty glorious.  Lots of sunshine and warmth rather than raging temperatures and humidity! We took the littles over to Masdar Park, near Khalifa city.  There is a lovely little park there and a little coffee hut which sells a delicious caramel latte.

So,  today I went for a classic mid- length grey pleated skirt that I bought from Topshop years ago.  It is still one of my most favourite things to wear and teamed it with a simple stripped tee, also from Topshop.  I am obsessed cacti at the moment so this top needed to make it's way into my wardrobe!  On my feet I wore some bargain metallic silver sandals from H&M which I picked up for 15 dirhams (about £3) in the sale! They haven't been off my feet much since I picked them up on Christmas Eve! My sunglasses are classic raybans which my mum bought me a few years back.  I still love them although I am now lusting after the round shaped ones with the lilac lenses!

I wear this skirt a lot.  I feel like it is a really good staple piece as you can dress it up or keep it casual.  I am going to be keeping my eyes open for some similar ones this spring to add to my collection so give me a shout if you see any!

And there we have it, my first style post.  I am not going to be a fashion blogger anytime soon but I really enjoyed creating this post.

Thanks for stopping by,
